Australia has some of the most spectacular landscapes in the world. Vast deserts and otherworldly rock formations will leave you speechless, and great foodie cities will delight you. Keep these inspirational destinations on your list when formulating your Australia bucket list!
Sydney
Most famous for the incredible architecture of their opera house, Sydney has so much more to offer. A wonderful Chinatown, which showcases so many of the immigrant journeys and cuisines which have transplanted here. The amazing ferries that take people all around the harbor – we recommend the Manly Ferry as a must-do.
Blue Mountains
The Blue Mountains are within striking distance of Sydney, for either a day trip or a weekend break. The lush rainforest and ancient rock formations are definitely worth a visit. Spending a night in this beautiful scenery is definitely recommended too, as it is so different from the desert landscapes of Western Australia.
Byron Bay
Byron Bay is a surf-lovers paradise. If you want a truly relaxing beachside break, Byron Bay is the spot for you in Australia. While it isn’t the hippy enclave of years past, and is still a luxurious place to have a laid back break. Fish and chips on the beach, boogie boarding, and a really chilled vibe remain staples.
Melbourne
Melbourne, the bustling foodie capital of Australia, is one for city-lovers. Fabulous restaurants, food tours and cosmopolitan experiences await you in Melbourne. It’s also a great jumping off point for a road trip along the Great Ocean Road.

The 12 Apostles
The 12 Apostles are the unbelievable rock formations off the coast of the Great Ocean Road, south of Melbourne. The 12 limestone stacks are part of Port Campbell National Park, an area of immense natural beauty along the Victoria coast.
Margaret River
We can’t forget Perth and Western Australia. If you are visiting this side of the country, a tour of the Margaret River and all the wineries in the area is a must. Take a day trip or visit for longer on a multi-day cruise in the area. Remote, and with lots of wildlife-spotting, it is a uniquely ‘Aussie’ thing to do.
Uluru
You can’t visit Australia without seeing Uluru and spending time learning more about the indigenous peoples of the country. Around Alice Springs you can discover amazing Aboriginal art, take respectful tours in and around Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.
